August 31st- Sept 4th

 Welcome to Grade Two!

We are so excited to continue to build relationships and begin our learning journey together this year!  Please check the blog every Friday afternoon for updates on what we have learned about that week.

First Day Feelings

There are so many different ways to feel on the first day of school! We read the story First Day Jitters, and talked about how we felt before coming to school this morning. We practiced using tally marks by going around the room, meeting our classmates and surveying them on how they felt this morning. Then we made a class graph. Most people in our class felt excited about the first day!

Listen, Learn and Grow

We read a story that taught us how we can use our whole body to help us regulate, listen and engage at school.  Be sure to ask your child how they can listen with their minds, heart and body.

I Promise

-After reading the story I Promise by LeBron James we were inspired to make a class promise that includes all of the things that matter to us as a class community

We promise to:

-Dream Big

-Be a Team Player

-Be Respectful

-Try My Best

-Have Fun

Patterns

Two Truths and a Lie

-We wrote down three facts about our selves
-Two of them were the truth and one was a lie
-We then guessed which one was a lie

The Day You Begin

- We read the story The Day You Begin which celebrates finding similarities and differences with our classmates. We made bracelets that symbolized things that are special about us. For example a white bead to represent our family, an orange bead for our favourite sport, a purple bead to show we have a pet dog, and so on. Ask your child about their bracelet and what each bead symbolizes for them.
