- Informative writing is like an ice cream sundae. The topic sentence is the cherry on top. The facts are all the yummy parts, the ice cream and the fudge. Then the closing sentence is like to cup at the bottom, that holds it all together.
High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
Data Through Storytelling
- Indigenous people often share important knowledge (data) through storytelling. They pass down information about seasons, animals, weather and the land. They don’t use charts and graphs. They use beautiful, descriptive stories instead.
- We read the story "This is How I Know" and recorded different ways we can observe the seasons change
Fractions
- We have started learning about fractions
-We talked about that a fraction is a way to show a part of a whole.
-It tells us how many equal parts something is divided into and how many of those parts we're talking about.
Closing Sentences
-We practiced writing a topic sentence, facts and a closing sentence related to an animal we watched a video about (seals)
-We used sentence starters to help us with our topic and closing sentence
