High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
Phonics - FLSZ Rule & -all.-oll,-ull
- When we hear /f/,/l/,/s/ or /z/ at the end of a word after a short vowel sound, we use double letters, or the same letter two times, to spell that sound.
- We also learned that when -ll comes after the vowels A,O and U the ll changes the vowel sound
- Please check your child's red folder this weekend and read the decodables we practiced this week
- If your child did not draw, or finish, their picture you could encourage them to do so
MATERIALS
- We are learning about different materials in Science
- In Language Arts we have been looking at letter formation, many letters have similarities
- We combined the two and wrote the word MATERIAL using different materials
- We used tin foil, cotton, string, plasticine, fabric, plastic, paper and cardboard
Three Left Feet Performance
-The students finished the Three Left Feet Residency with a showcase of their dance "What I Like About You."
-The students were so proud of themselves!
-Some of the things that they liked best and learned were:
"I liked it when we did the big rainbow move. It made me feel happy."
"I enjoyed doing the dance."
"I had fun running around the big circle as a class."
"I liked it how when we ran in a circle the audience had a shocked look on their faces."
"I liked doing the whole dance. It made me feel happy."
"The spinning part at the end was the best part. It made me feel excited."
Patterns
-Please review the pattern sheets that came home yesterday so that your child feels prepared for our quiz next week.
-We have been busy reviewing concepts including creating repeating patterns with multiple attributes and increasing and decreasing patterns.
Go Fish- Make 10 Edition
-We learned a new game this week that is a spin off from the classic 'Go Fish'
-Instead of asking for a card from a partner to make a double, you ask them for the corresponding number to make 10 (i.e. if i have a 7, I would ask my partner for a 3 to make 10)
-Try and play it as a family this weekend!
