High Frequency Words
We did not do the spelling test this Friday because of the break from school. The words are the same and we will work on them and test them next week.

Representing Quantities
-We practiced counting different quantities using numbers (standard form) and words.
-We counted different things around us such as things in our desks, some things in our classroom and some things in our school!
-We then worked with a partner to count a group of objects by 2s, 5's or 10s and represented that number with an addition sentence and words
Phonics- Digraph Review
-A consonant digraph is when two consonants come together to make one sound.
-We reviewed CK, SH, TH, and CH
-TH spells two sounds
-The unvoiced TH spells /th/ like at the beginning of the word thumb. The unvoiced /th/ can come at the beginning or end of a word.
-The voiced TH spells /th/ like at the beginning of the word this. Voiced /th/ can only come at the beginning og a word
- Please check your child's red folder this weekend and read the decodables we practiced this week
- If your child did not draw, or finish, their picture you could encourage them to do so
Writing- Questions about our Picture
-We drew a detailed haunted house this week
-We then wrote questions about our haunted house and share them with a partner
-Some of our questions were:
"When will the witch come out of the house?"
"How did the people turn into ghosts?"
"When will the zombie come out of the ground?"
"When will the zombie come out of the ground?"
"What is in the house?"
"Where is everybody?"
"When will the monsters come?"
"When will the monsters come?"
"Will they follow the sign?"
"Is anyone living there?"
"Why is it haunted?"
"Why is it haunted?"
Land Acknowledgement
-We talked about what a land acknowledgement contains and why it is important
-We created a class land acknowledgement by answering these questions:
Who am I? Where was I born? Where am I from? Whose land am I on? What do I like to do on these lands? What is my promise to the land? What is my commitment?
-We then drew a picture to represent our commitment and understanding as a classroom community.
Coding
- Part of the Science curriculum involves learning how to code
- We used the app Scratch Jr. on the ipads to learned how to apply basic codes to make a character move
Buddies
- Our Kindergarten buddies came to visit us on Halloween
- We did an art activity called "Roll a Monster"
Things to Know
- Students brought home a math sheet that we did not get to this October that you are welcome to do as homework
- Please remember to return the red folder by Friday each week so we can add the new decodables into it
