Phonics
-When using a past tense verb (an action that has already happened) we add the ending -ED.
-There are 3 ways to pronounce the -ED ending:
/d/ : If a voiced sound comes before -ED we say /d/ like in called or tamed
/t/: If an unvoiced sound comes before -ED we say /t/ like in sniffed and helped
/ed/: if the sound /d/ or /t/ comes before -Ed, -ED makes two sounds: /e/ and /d/ and the E is pronounced with a schwas, just like the E in -ES.
