-ING:
is an ending we can add to verbs to change their tense.
-We add the -INMG ending to verbs when we are talking about actions that continuously happen in the present or past. When a verb has the -ING ending, a helping verb comes before it: I am going. He is going. We are going. She was going. They were going
Closed Syllables:
A closed syllable has only one vowel and the vowel is followed by one or more consonants. The vowel sound is short. i.e. hop, kick and fast
Open Syllables:
An open syllable has only one vowel and the vowel is the last letter in teh syllable. The vowel sound is long. i.e. hi, go and she
- Please check your child's red folder this weekend and read the decodables we practiced this week
- If your child did not draw, or finish, their picture you could encourage them to do so
Skip Counting
- Skip counting is like taking big jumps when you count! - Instead of counting one by one (like 1, 2, 3) you skip numbers. For example: If you count by twos, you say 2, 4, 6, 8, and so on. It's like finding shortcuts when you count. - We use it for lots of things, like counting money by fives or tens, or figuring out how many wheels are on a bunch of bikes. - Skip counting helps you count faster and is fun to do!- The goal in grade 2 is to skip count (within 1000) forwards and backwards by 20s, 25s or 50s starting at 0, and to skip count by 2s and 10s starting at any number.
