High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
Shadow Art
- To finish up our unit on energy we made shadow art
- We drew our bodies and then traced the outline onto the orange paper.
- We colored in the traced outline completely black to represent the shadow.
- Then we glued the figure onto the paper, placing it in front the black one so it looked like there was a shadow behind it.
Phonics: EA and A
- We have learned that the vowel team EA can make the short e sound like in head
- We also learned that the letter a can make a short o sound. The usually happens when it comes after a w, like in the words swamp and want
- Please read over this week's decodables with your child and help them practice their decoding and comprehension.
Winter Olympics Pictograms
-We learned that pictograms are stylized, non-verbal representations or instructions that help people to find their way and provide information, even if those people cannot read.
-Their key element is to be simple, clear and easily understood by people with a wide range of backgrounds.
-We talked about some of the most popular sports at the Winter Olympics and then represented our favourites
