"I learned that it takes 9 buffalo hide to make one tipi."
"I learned that the dogs chew the buffalo hide until they reach the stones."
"If you want the drum to make a simple sound, you need to put a rock on top of the hide while it is still wet."
"You can make drums out of different animal hide."
"If you want the drum to make a simple sound, you need to put a rock on top of the hide while it is still wet."
"You can make drums out of different animal hide."
High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
land, different, home, us, move, try, kind, hand, picture, again
Phonics: oi, oy
- We learned a new sound /oi/. /oi/ is a diphthong. This is a kind of vowel sound that glides, which means our mouths move a little bit as we make the sound
-oi usually comes in the middle of a word, such as the words point and coin
-oy usually comes at the end of a word, such as boy and toy
- Please read over this week's decodables with your child and help them practice their decoding and comprehension.
Adjectives
-We have started to practice adding adjectives to our writing to make it stronger and more vivid
-We identify the noun and then think about how we add a describing word before it
Math- Strategies
-We continue to practice mental math strategies
-Please help your child review them at home:
Pink Shirt Day
- Wednesday was pink shirt day
- We read stories about kindness and had a class discussion about what kindness means
- We made pink shirts with images of ways we can be kind
- We made a class paper chain with promises to be kind
