High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
off, play, spell, air, away, animal, house, change, point, page
Phonics: kn, wr and mb
-We learned that some graphemes include silent letters
-In the grapheme KN, the K is silent. KN can only come at the beginning of a word.
-In the grapheme WR, the W is silent. WR can only come at the beginning of a word.
-In the grapeme MB, the B is silent. MB can only come at the end of a word.
- Please read over this week's decodables with your child and help them practice their decoding and comprehension.
Field Trip- Sam Centre
-We learned so much on our field trip about The Calgary Stampede
-We talked about Heritage, traditions, clothing, food and language
-Some of the things we will remember most are:
"The story of the lightening bolt cowboy boots and the symbolism of the white and red ribbon cowboy hat."
"Flipping pancakes from person to person.
"Pancake junction"
"Listening to the movie about The Stampede"
"Making a character at the museum."
"The coin stamp."
"Making a poster with my friends."
Addition and Subtraction Strategies
-We continue to show our thinking for different addition and subtraction strategies
-Be sure to ask your child to show you how they solve it
Coding Practice
-Using Scratch Junior, we learned how to make a memory game and all of the steps in the code for a partner to then play our game
