High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
UNESCO Heritage Sites in Alberta
- A UNESCO World Heritage Site is a special place deemed to have universal value to humanity
- Alberta is home to several UNESCO sites including:
- Canadian Rocky Mountain Parks
- Dinosaur Provincial Park
- Head Smashed in Buffalo Jump
- We used google slides for the first time this year to make presentations about all of the different site
- We learned how to add pictures, change the font and delete slides
Geometry
- We have started our unit on shapes
- We reviewed the names and attributes of 2D shapes and 3D shapes
- We learned how 2D shapes form 3D shapes
- We learned about transformations: flips, slides and turns
Phonics - Spelling Rules
- We are looking a spelling change rules in phonics
- This week we learned about the Doubling Rule for -ed, -ing, -er and -est
- When we add these suffixes to a word with one vowel and one final consonant we double the consonant
- For example: hop - hopped and hopping, red - redder, reddest
