High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
last, school, father, keep, tree, never, start, city, earth, eye
Phonics: un-, pre-, re-
-We learned that the prefix UN- means not or opposite
-UN- means not in words like unhappy or unkind.
- We learned that the prefix PRE- means before (e.g. preview)
- We learned that the prefix RE- means to go back, return or repeat
- Please read over this week's decodables with your child and help them practice their decoding and comprehension.
Pancake Breakfast
-We were so excited to come back from Spring Break and have a pancake breakfast in the gym
-We sat with our buddies and listened to country music
-We even watched some of the students and staff participate in a line dance!
Standard Algorithm
-This week we practiced adding and subtraction two digit numbers WITHOUT and WITH regrouping
-We make sure to line up the tens and the ones and then add or subtract the ones first and then the tens
-We need lots of extra practice with these concepts. Please complete the practice sheets that were sent home
Earth's Components
-We learned that Earth’s Components (land, water, air, and living things) are like a big, amazing team that work together. Land is where people, animals and plants make their homes. Plants make air for people and animals to breathe. Water is home to many animals and is needed for living things to grow and stay alive.
Artemis 2
- Things have lined up perfectly for our science unit this month!
- We are learning about Earth Systems, Earth Day is at the end of the month, and Artemis 2 has launched to orbit the moon!
- In writing we learned about this space mission and took notes using the skills we learned about gathering information for informative texts
Find the Missing Number
- We learned how to identify missing numbers in an equation
- We can use our different strategies and knowledge of fact families to help us solve
- This skill is useful for checking your answers!
