Phonics: Signal Vowels
-When followed by E, I, and Y, C spells /s/ and G spells /j/
- The 'signal vowels' signal, or tell us, that something will be different in a word
-c /s/: When c is followed by an A,O or U it makes the /k/ sound
When c is followed by E, I or Y it makes the /s/ sound
-g/j/: when G is followed by an A, O, or U it makes the /g/ sound
-When G is followed by E,I or Y it makes the /j/ sound
High Frequency Words
We will be working on spelling the First 300 High Frequency words with a spelling test each Friday. During the week please practice reading, writing and nicely printing these words. The words this week are:
watch, far, real, almost, let, above, girl, sometimes, mountain, cut
Measurement- Lengths of Yarn
-We first measure estimate the length of pieces of yarn and then determine the measurement using counters
- We discussed the differences between yarn lengths, as well as the differences between our estimates and the actual measurements
Animal Research
-We have been spending time on the computers researching an animal of our choice
-We are finding information on Pebble Go
-When we finish gathering all of our information we will transfer our information to a Google Slide Presentation
Weaving
- On Friday, we learned how to weave with Mrs. Thompson's class
- Thank you so much for bringing in yarn, earlier this year
- We had a lot of fun and will continue working on our weaving skills for the rest of the year
