Phonics: -sion, -tion & -ture
-syllables are words or word parts with one vowel sound. Learning about syllables helps us read and spell.
-Final stable syllables always come at the end of a word, -LE as in apple and puzzle. Two more final stable syllables are -SION and -TION
-SION can follow a vowel (vision or diversion) or a consonant (passion and extension)
-TION can sometimes make the /ch/ sound like in the word question
- Another final stable syllable we learned about is -ture, we hear the CH sound but it is spelled with -ture (e.g. picture, structure)

Measuring Length:
-We have learned how to measure length with standard units by tiling or iterating with a centimetre and centicube
-We practice making sure we line up the item we are measuring with the edge of the ruler or cube and stop at the end of the item
- We learned the importance of using the same size of measurement for accuracy
- We went outside and traced our bodies with chalk and then used our feet to tile and measure our length and the length of our partners
- Depending on whose foot was being used to measure we would get a different number of feet!
-We were inspired by the book You Choose Fairy Tales to start writing our own fairy tale.
-Where will it take place? What is the problem in the story? How will it be solved?
Animal Research-
-We continue to spend time learning how to navigate Google Slides as we prepare a presentation for everything we have learned from our animal research
